Poetry is ‘a learned difficult art’ and for many writers moving from beginner to being a more advanced practitioner is where the hard work begins.

In this course, Dr Gregory Leadbetter will look at a range of areas designed to challenge the emerging or established poet.

Themes to be covered include the value of various inherited poetic traditions, the importance of how poetry is heard, techniques for writing with linguistic precision, working through different forms and addressing the mystery inherent within poetry.

A practical course, participants will be expected to both write and reflect on their writing and to extend their range of reading.
